How we tested Anki, Quizlet, and RemNote
Last tested September 2026. I built a 60-card deck in each app from the same source notes: definitions, a few cloze deletions, and one image card. I reviewed for ten days on an iPhone 16 and edited on a MacBook Pro. Quizlet also got a pre-made public set so I was not only grading the DIY path.
Anki was the most honest about what I was forgetting, and the slowest to author. Quizlet was the fastest start and the easiest to over-rate because the buttons feel like progress. RemNote was awkward on day one and then the only flow where fixing a note fixed the card. I missed a review day in all three. The apps did not email me into being a better person.
I did not test classroom admin, Quizlet's live games, or Anki add-ons beyond the defaults. Medical decks with tens of thousands of shared cards are their own culture. Use a deck other students already trust, then edit it, instead of building from zero in week one of anatomy.
